catchin’ up
just got back from lunch with Matt. eating at this great indian restaurant called chennai garden—all you can eat for $6.50 including tax—not bad for it’s proximity to midtown manhattan.
it gets me thinking about how I wish I had kept in better touch with a few people over the last couple years. it’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle of the city and the grind that you lose touch with how awesome it can be to just have good conversation with a good friend. of course I think we all go through a bit of self-induced isolation while we adjust to this very unique place, but that doesn’t change the fact that I wish I hadn’t fallen off the face of the planet.
but it’s like I’ve always known about the best of friends… it doesn’t matter how long it’s been, it’ll always immedietely revert to being like old times. the same little things will make you glad to know them, and the same other things will drive you nuts. I’m pretty damn lucky to know the few close friends I have, they’re amazing people.
anyhow, I feel pretty well adjusted to the city. although every time you feel like that, it throws some new wrench your way. but I’ll take it as it comes. the main thing is I’m here, things are o.k.—it’s time to shift the focus from trying to get by, and over to focusing on who I am and what I’m about. I guess you could say it’s time to do some catchin’ up with myself.
