the cloisters

Sven and I were hanging out yesterday and we decided to visit the cloisters. it’s an annex of the metropolitan museum of art that happens to be a 15 minute walk from his apartment in washington heights (neighborhood in the very northern tip of manhattan). it focuses on medieval architecture, art, and gardens. it’s a very beautiful place, and has several stunning outdoor gardens. one of the herb gardens overlooks the hudson river from a perfect elevation. it’s hard to believe it’s technically in “the city.”

it’s located in fort tryon park, which is also picturesque, and overlooks the hudson. I live on the very southern tip, but it’s still only a half-hour drive—and it’s amazing how different it is up there. I hope to make the short trip more often, it’s a great place for quiet thoughts.
