About 2 years ago, I started playing pretty regularly at St Nicks Pub in Harlem–a historical jazz landmark.

From the outside looking in.

I’ve been busy with other musical endeavors and haven’t been playing there much these days. But over Memorial Day weekend I did show and decided to take some photos for the scrapbook.

Here’s a blurry photo of the neighborhood up at 149th st. St Nicks is in the lower right corner.

Nice. A place to download pdfs of classical tunes. I’ve been using Sheet Music Archive for awhile so I decided to support them and join. Even if you don’t you can download and print high quality scans of some great music.

From the Royal Library, Berlin. Probably written in 1722-23

They even have a few original manuscripts like Bach’s eighth invention, which was originally labeled his fourth—One of my childhood faves.

In other news I’ve still been writing and recording. Patiently working on new sounds and honing my skills with “gear”, while not losing touch with the simple fact that I love writing, playing, and singing songs. New stuff is on the way…. I promise.

Cutting Room on March 14

On Wednesday March 14th I’m playing a solo piano showcase, singing 9 new songs. The Cutting Room is an amazing venue for this kind of show since they have a really nice, and in tune, 7 foot Yahama grand piano. If you’re in town–please come to this show–I’m gonna play my ass off.

You think it’s cold where you are? Here’s some photos from my snowboarding trip to Vail, Colorado from January 12-17. The average temparature was 0. The cold couldn’t stop me from hitting the slopes—the snow was amazing, 3 foot base on the mountains, great powder, and endless terrain.

The highlight was the last day on the back bowls, which are these giant, open slopes on the back side of the mountain where you can go almost anywhere. There’s nothing like a trip like this to inspire some music. On with the photos…
